Members of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce:
We have exciting news today. After 15 months of consecutive net membership growth during a very challenging period I am pleased to report that we have achieved an important milestone as a Chamber. We now are 1,000 members strong! On behalf of the entire Chamber board and staff I want to say thank you to all our membership. Whether you have been with us for decades or just joined today, we are dedicated to continued exceptional support and service to you and your businesses. At the Chamber, we win, we never quit and "best ever" is our standard.
The 4th of July is coming up and we are excited to see a city that is open with a full calendar of celebrations and events. As a nation we have a great deal to be grateful for, and at the top of the list is our military, our veterans and our first responders. The Chamber was honored to support an event that recognized one of our Vietnam era veterans at Goodfellow Air Force Base this week. During the ceremony Mr. Robert Washburn was presented with an award thanking him for his service and formally welcoming him home. Over 50 years ago, Mr. Washburn was a graduate of Goodfellow Air Force Base. He worked in signal intelligence and flew 128 missions on EC-47 aircraft. As we celebrate our nation’s birthday to acknowledge those who made and make our country great, let’s make it a point to thank our first responders, our military and our veterans.
The referral process for the 20 Under 40 awards program is underway and recommendations are already coming in. We have many great community leaders in the under 40 crowd, so we encourage everyone to participate. Nomination forms are available on the Chamber website: www.sanangelo.org, or you may pick up a form at the Chamber. The awards banquet will be held in October and sponsorship opportunities are available.
Registration is open and sponsorship opportunities are still available for the West Texas Legislative Summit. Our 2021 theme is appropriately “Beyond COVID-19”. The West Texas Legislative Summit is an event that brings together hundreds of elected officials and business professionals from across West Texas. This year’s topics will include critical infrastructure, education, agriculture and water, energy management, transportation, pipelines, and ports. The dates for this year’s summit are August 3 and 4. Find out more at www.sanangelo.org.
Finally, we have a great calendar of activities planned so visit our new and improved website at www.sanangelo.org often as we are continually providing updates. On behalf of our incredible Chamber staff and Board of Directors we thank you for your membership and contribution to the success of our community.
Have a great week!
